Last Week Was the End of First Quarter at LAC

The last day of classes for first quarter at Lezha Academic Center, Lezhë, Albania, was Tuesday, November 12. This was followed by two morning of finals. It has been a good first quarter. Here are some photos reminding us of our time in Albania but not related to the students, per se.

I am intrigued when I see young children from two to four since they remind us of several of our grandchildren and what antics we might be missing. On Tuesday, Nov. 11, Robert Cook's wife and young daughter were at the school. So with her mother's permission and Emily's acquiescence, I took the photos below. Like any three-year-old, she knows she can do just about anything and is given permissions by rite of birth to tell her mother what to do. So I captured her moving chairs outside around for her mother and her to sit on.. She then told her mom to sit down, but I missed that shot! Emily sat down and was pensive for a minute, but not more than that!

Robert is a new teacher at LAC. He has lived in Albania for quite a number of years, and it is where his wife was from originally. Welcome aboard, Robert!

On the last day of finals, the staff and teachers went to the Net Center to lunch together. I'm not sure exactly how many of us were there--probably around 20. It was a time to relax, laugh, tell stories, and get to know each other better. (Thanks to Alba, who had come to school for a visit that day, I now have a  photo with me in it. I think she took the first three below.)

That day on the way back home to our apartment, we passed the busy intersection at the bridge where past of the market is on one side and the open-air part is one the other side. A family waits to get across and then sprints across the street.

These are just a few more "slices of life" for us in Lezhë, and we continue to enjoy living and serving here!
