More Locomotives, Trains and Tracks in Harrisonburg

I have been stockpiling my train photos--not by design but because of our busy time getting ready to return to Albania. We will leave the US on August 4. Anyway, here are some photos I took on June 18 at one of the Norfolk and Southern "yards" in Harrisonburg.

NS Engine 7712 was still around the Harrisonburg area in the middle of June. It is an ES-40DC locomotive. Here it is with hooked up with two other engines at the NS yard south of the R. S. Monger lumberyard on Chesapeake Ave. just north of W. Grace St. The newly renamed Martin Luther King Jr. Way can be seen in the background to the north.

At the northern end of Chesapeake Ave. where it joins W. Bruce St., was another engine and train. This one was the NS engine 9028, a D9-40CW locomotive with grain gondola cars attached. I captured it looking through a chain link fence, looking under the fence at some old concrete steps and on the sidewalk on W. Bruce St.

On the other side of W. Bruce St., the tracks were empty but framed by trees they made a nice picture.

A few weeks later, on July 9, I saw another train on the tracks just east of R. S. Monger. It was NS engine 9577, another D9-40CW, pulling grain cars.

Nine days later I saw NS 9028 again. This time it was down the tracks a bit further than before, just south of the M. L. K. Jr. Way bridge over the tracks.

And then up east of R. S. Monger, I found NS 7586. This is an ES-40DC locomotive.

While you enjoy these photos, remember to check back and see when I get more train pictures posted from the growing pool. I'll also try to get more photos of the trains in Albania, and maybe Elsie and I can even take a ride in one for a weekend excursion. More late!
