25 May 2011: Collaborative Learning with Blogs, Wikis and Forums

Since our college graduation on May 15, I have been busy writing new tutorials and revising old ones getting ready for a week workshop I will be conducting on using Moodle for our faculty. We were planning on moving to version 2.0 but due to a glitch in getting backup files for courses saved in version 1.9 to work in 20., we will be staying with version 1.9 for this coming academic year.

So my latest tutorial is entitled, "Teaching with Social Activities: Blogs, Wikis, and Forums." It is a combination of how-to directions and sample assignments and screenshots. While this is based on Moodle 1.9, teachers using other course management systems may find the sample assignments useful.

To locate all of the Moodle tutorial, click on the "Moodle Assists" link above. The tutorial is near the top of the linked page.

26 April 2011: Want More Effective PowerPoint Presentations?

Today I uploaded my revised tutorial on using PowerPoint presentations more effectively. While it gives some assistance in getting started, it is more about how to constructive effective presentations. You may find the tutorial by clicking on the "Other Resources" link above or by simply clicking on the link below.

9 April 2011: Tutorials for Moodle Have Been Released!

This week I have slightly revised and moved all of my Moodle tutorials to the Ed Tech by Bowman site. In the last month or so, I have installed Moodle 2.0 on my PC and will be revising these tutorials for that version in the next month or so. However, for now, the version 1.9 tutorials are also appropriate for use by persons with version 2.0 installed.

To see all of these tutorials and explore other links to Moodle resources, click on the "Moodle Assists" link on the bar above.

30 March 2011: Version 4.0 of JS Quiz Maker Has Been Released!

I have spent some happy days over the weekend and into the early part of this week working on the challenges of updating the freeware JS Quiz Maker that I last updated (v. 3.0) in 2006! And when I had it all online here at Ed Tech by Bowman, I suddenly found that it was not working. So after nearly 24 hours, it is finally all functional. That is, unless one of you finds a problem that I have not discovered.

The URL, if you want it is:

Take a look at it, and let me know what you think.
